Stopping alcohol addiction through alcohol hypnotherapy

As such, the person here must take a few shots or bottles of beer for him or her to function well. This is an addiction, and coming out of this vice can be too hard. With alcohol hypnotherapy, a person can deal with this problem once and for all. It touches on the emotions and the triggers that make one increase the intake of alcohol, thereby leading to addiction.

Using alcohol hypnotherapy to stop addiction

The system of alcohol hypnotherapy deals mostly with the emotional issues that lead to too much drinking. It can be stress, boredom, upsets, and so on. With alcohol hypnotherapy, you can gain control of your choices and break the drinking habit, reprogramming your sleep patterns, and release all the cravings, thereby reducing your chances of taking alcohol. Hypnotherapy has gained traction as a new way of dealing with alcohol. It relaxes the mind of the addict and opens them up to new concepts to help them overcome their alcohol addiction.

The process utilizes relaxation techniques and skills to help the patient reach a relaxed state.  The subconscious is focused on a heightened state of awareness. During this state, it is easy to make suggestions, and it is where the alcohol hypnotherapy treatment starts. One can be persuaded to stop alcohol.  The power of the mind is utilized because it can change everything for the alcohol addict.

For instance, the hypnotherapist may show a person the images associated with alcohol addiction and suggest that if one retakes alcohol, they may have an adverse reaction. Since the mind is powerful, the person is likely to stop abusing alcohol. During the session, therapists usually stats with a consultation, during which they deliberate with the participants. Details relating to outcomes and goals, the cost of alcohol hypnotherapy, as well as the duration. Once these are highlighted, alcohol hypnotherapy treatment can start.

The success of alcohol hypnotherapy depends on the commitment of the patient and their willingness to stop the addiction. It also depends on the response of the person with regard to the treatment being administered. Remember that alcohol hypnotherapy is non-invasive and targets the power of the mind as it addresses the underlying causes of the said addiction.

HYPNOSIS FOR SLEEP ANXIETY: HOW DOES IT WORK?

July 10th, 2020

Do you ever get ready for bed, but instead of drifting off for a restful 8-hours, stress and anxiety seem to set in?

For many people, trying to get to sleep can be a nightly battle.

Sleep anxiety hypnosis can help by using two key methods:

  1. Identifies the repetitive thought patterns you may experience whilst in bed or preparing for sleep.
  2. Gives you a bespoke script of hypnotic suggestions to re-write these negative thoughts, so that your mind can expect and allow deep sleep.

blank

IS SLEEP ANXIETY A THING?

The link between anxiety and sleep is well-documented.

A common complaint you’ll hear from someone who’s facing sleep challenges is:

“This anxiety is giving me insomnia, and the insomnia is giving me more anxiety.”

Research shows that between a quarter and a fifth of Americans suffer from a sleep disorder.

The UK insomnia statistics show a similar trend.

I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you why sleep is so important.

Sleeping well supports many aspects of wellbeing. This includes cognitive functionmood, and physical health.

Most people will experience a disruption in their sleep at some point in their life. After all, stressful life events are unavoidable at times.

Being underslept can often lead to feelings of irritability, less focus, and a foggier brain.

Sleep anxiety makes sense, then.

You want to sleep well because you want to feel well during the day, too.

The issue is when the mind becomes hyper-aware — analysing and worrying about not getting the optimal amount of sleep.

This overactivity in the mind is counter-productive, as it actually makes you less likely to be able to fall asleep.

HOW TO OVERCOME SLEEP ANXIETY?

You know how you can be laying in bed with thought after thought running through your head?

“If I can’t sleep soon, I’ll be exhausted tomorrow.”

“I might have to cancel my plans.”

“What’s wrong with me?”

These kinds of thoughts can lead to feelings of stress, tension, and anxiety, keeping you awake into the early hours.

So, how can you overcome this sleep anxiety?

In sleep anxiety hypnosis, the therapy will help you identify the repetitive thought loops that keep your brain in an overactive, anxious state.

Once you and your hypnotherapist have agreed on the main thoughts that are keeping your mind in this state of overactivity, the practice can begin.

Hypnosis isn’t about making you unconscious.

You are in control and will be fully aware of everything that goes on in the sessions.

Hypnotherapy guides you into a deeply relaxed state and helps your mind become less reactive to the stimuli that lead to sleep anxiety.

These stimuli can include the thought loops mentioned above, negative emotions, or sensations in the body.

Over time, as the reactivity to certain stimuli reduces, you should find that the feeling of anxiety at bedtime lessons, too.

If an anxious thought does pop up, you’ll be able to identify the thought more quickly and let it go.

WHERE TO GO FROM HERE? OPTIONS FOR SLEEP ANXIETY HYPNOSIS

There are three options you can choose from if you wish to try hypnosis for sleep anxiety.

1. Book a video appointment

Some people find that putting on headphones and being able to lay on their own bed or sofa is even more relaxing.

Does this sound like the best option for you?

Email info@cityhypnosis.com to book an online hypnotherapy session.

2. Book a face-to-face appointment

I’m based in central London (UK). If this is an accessible location for you to schedule an in-person appointment, here’s our address:

3. Buy an audio download

If you would prefer to purchase a hypnosis audio download for help with insomnia, I have one available on this page.

All you will need to do is register for a free account and complete the purchase.

We will then be able to send you the audio file download, so you can listen to this before or as you go to sleep.

BONUS: QUICK TIPS TO TRY TONIGHT FOR SLEEP ANXIETY

Affirmations: Remind yourself that you are comfortable and safe. If sleep comes along, great. If not, you can still let your muscles relax and let your eyes feel heavy.

Limit coffee in the afternoon and evening: Caffeine consumption in the afternoon has been found to disrupt sleep. If you drink coffee, try to limit this to the first few hours after waking up.

Try sleeping in a different location: If you feel a particular sense of anxiety from not being able to sleep in your usual location, you may benefit from a change of setting. A spare bedroom or living room with a sofa bed may serve as a welcome change for one night.

Forgiveness: Accept that you don’t need to be at 100% tomorrow. If your energy levels are lower than normal, that’s okay. Remind yourself that you will still be able to take care of most of your responsibilities.

BONUS: 4 TIPS TO TRY THIS WEEK FOR ANXIETY

Here are a few tips for anxiety that you can try out before your hypnotherapy appointment or in-between sessions:

  • Activity scheduling:

When was the last time you took some time to look after yourself? Self-care isn’t selfish or soft, as some people mistakenly think — scheduling “me time” is crucial to recharge and reset for your other tasks.

Reading, baths, and meditation are a few popular self-care activities.

  • Watch caffeine & sugar intake:

Consuming too much caffeine or sugar can increase anxiety.

Yes, they may provide a welcome energy boost at first, but have you kept track to make sure they don’t make your anxiety worse?

  • Fact-check:

The mind is tempted to go through worst-case scenarios during moments of anxiety or panic. Next time an anxious thought pops up, see if you can reframe…

What’s the proof that this thought is true?

Is there any evidence to suggest the thought may not be as true as it appears?

  • Power poses:

97% of our communication is non-verbal and a large part of that is via body language. The brain pays attention to your posture as an emotional cue.

Regain control during a moment of anxiety by sitting or standing up straight, with your shoulders back and your chest out.

HYPNOSIS FOR CONFIDENCE AND MOTIVATION: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

22nd July, 2020

Are you wondering how hypnosis for confidence and motivation works?

This article gives a quick breakdown of the key principles involved, as well as 4 bonus tips for boosting your confidence this week.

blank

WHAT EXACTLY IS CONFIDENCE AND MOTIVATION HYPNOSIS?

Hypnosis for confidence and motivation helps people by addressing the subconscious mind’s “inner voice.”

For individuals with low confidence, this inner voice can keep them stuck in a state of self-doubt. As a result, negative thought loops strengthen over time.

Doubt forms in the imagination (e.g. “I don’t think my new boss will like me.”)

But we can also use the power of the imagination to feel more confident and motivated.

Hypnotherapy eases your body and mind into a relaxed state. Once in this state, it’s easier to access the imagination.

Your hypnotherapist will guide you through personalised questions and prompts. These will encourage a shift in your self-doubt.

These prompts will be made in the present tense, which lets the subconscious mind know the changes are being made now.

A few examples could be:

“My first day at work is going well.”

“I’m taking action on my goals.”

“I’m not afraid to ask for feedback.”

Thoughts create more thoughts. Hypnosis prompts will set new, positive thought loops that swap self-doubt for confidence.

Over time, you’ll feel more motivated, because you’ll see that the subconscious mind can adapt to what you tell it.

THE PROCESS OF HYPNOSIS FOR CONFIDENCE AND MOTIVATION

The most important thing to know is that you’ll be aware of what’s happening at all times.

A common question from clients in their first session is “will I lose control?

There’s no need to worry. Hypnosis for confidence and motivation gives you back control rather than taking it away.

Your hypnotherapist will ask you what problems you want to solve and how the challenges impact your life.

They’ll identify triggers that explain why these problems began and how they repeat themselves in the present.

After this, the hypnotherapist will guide you into a deeply relaxed state. This is a pleasant experience and doesn’t take a long time.

When you move into this more relaxed emotional state, your hypnotherapist will open a conversation with your subconscious mind.

This may sound a little strange, but in reality, the process is comfortable and doesn’t require a lot of effort on your part.

The hypnotherapist gives a sequence of verbal instructions and suggestions. These will gradually shift the limiting beliefs that have been holding you back.

After a few sessions, you should find that the old beliefs don’t have as much power over you. As a result, your level of confidence will increase.

BONUS: 4 LIFESTYLE TIPS FOR CONFIDENCE & MOTIVATION

Here are a few strategies you can try at home in-between hypnosis sessions, or before scheduling an appointment.

  • List your achievements — large or small

How often do you give yourself credit for what you’ve achieved so far in life?

Perhaps there are challenges that you’ve overcome or goals you’ve realised?  These don’t have to be huge milestones. Instead, they can be smaller, day-to-day achievements that add up over time.

  • Eye contact

Making eye contact is one of the fastest ways to give you a sense of confidence.

By focusing your attention on others, you’ll feel less self-conscious, which can ease feelings of anxiety.

Aim to hold eye contact at least 50% of the time in your next conversation.

  • Boost your self-talk

Spend 5 minutes per day observing your mind.

You might be surprised to discover how critical the mind can be, always looking for problems.

Are you able to reframe these thoughts when they come up? Could they be balanced with more positive self-talk?

  • Focus on excitement

Exciting situations and thoughts cause our body to release the hormone adrenaline.

You may have noted that the physical symptoms of excitement, such as increased heart rate, also arise when you feel anxious.

Next time you’re in a situation where your confidence is low, take note of any bodily symptoms. For a confidence boost, see if you can “trick” the mind into thinking that these symptoms are due to excitement rather than anxiety.

HYPNOTHERAPY FOR IBS: CAN IT CALM A STRESSED DIGESTIVE SYSTEM?

29th July, 2020

Hypnosis for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) isn’t mainstream yet, but clinical studies show very promising results.

In this article, we’ll cover how hypnosis for IBS works and the key research so far. There will also be 11 diet and lifestyle tips that you can combine with hypnotherapy treatment.

blank

WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY FOR IBS & HOW DOES IT WORK?

For people with IBS, common symptoms such as abdominal pain, changes in bowel movement, and diarrhea make life more difficult.

Physical discomfort can be the biggest challenge for IBS sufferers. But the unpredictability of when symptoms will flare, along with social embarrassment, often leads to further stress.

Stress is the natural way for the brain and nervous system to respond to our perception of threats.

The stress response includes a range of processes, both mental (thoughts) and physical (sensations).

Hypnotherapy is a useful solution to reprogram and calm these processes.

But really… hypnosis and IBS?

You might be wondering how it works.

Here are the key elements of hypnosis that, together, can relieve troubling symptoms:

  1. Deep relaxation
  2. Focused attention
  3. Heightened imagination
  4. Ability to respond to cues/suggestions

When someone has experienced IBS for a while, negative thoughts can get “trapped” in a loop.

Here are a few examples of such thoughts:

“What if I go out but can’t find a toilet in time?”

“I felt like I was going to be sick yesterday, I’ll probably feel the same today.”

“What will people think if my stomach starts making strange noises?”

The brain and nervous system learn to be on the lookout for any bodily sensations that serve as a threat.

In theory, these sensations could arise at any time. So, the brain has to work even harder to start new stress responses…

When this is happening multiple times a day, the body is put under strain.

Hypnotherapy for IBS supports you by being able to interrupt the negative thought loops.

Your hypnotherapist will teach you how to imagine your digestive system relaxing with a range of cues and prompts.

As your attention becomes focused on these cues and prompts, the conscious mind’s worrying and tension will reduce.

In its place, the subconscious mind (which controls bodily sensations and emotions) has more space to operate.

By shifting the focus to more empowering thoughts, over time, the beliefs in the subconscious mind change for the better.

Just like physical symptoms can create negative self-beliefs, a person’s beliefs can also produce physical symptoms.

Okay, how about the research then? Is there proof that hypnotherapy for IBS actually works?

WHAT’S THE RESEARCH ON HYPNOTHERAPY FOR IBS?

As discussed on the International Foundation for Gastrointestinal Disorders, a number of clinical studies have found that hypnosis is an effective therapy for IBS.

They go on to say that hypnotherapy offers 3 types of benefits for people with IBS: symptomatic, physiological, and psychological.

This NHS article reports via the Mail Online that “hypnosis is twice as effective at relieving agonising symptoms of IBS than other methods.”

A research study in Gut, which is an official journal of the British Society of Gastroenterology, examined the long-term benefits of hypnotherapy for IBS.

They found that out of 204 people with IBS, 71% responded well to hypnotherapy in the early stages.

The most exciting part of this study, however, is how the benefits sustained over time for those who did respond well.

1, 2, 3, 4, and 5+ years after hypnotherapy treatment, people reported that the improvements in symptoms had maintained.

Patients were able to reduce medication usage and their quality of life scores remained significantly improved.

“MONEY WORRIES ARE MAKING ME ILL” — 8 SIGNS & SYMPTOMS OF FINANCIAL ANXIETY

August 6th, 2020

“I can’t stand it — these money worries are making me ill.”

You may have had thoughts like this in recent months.

Understandably, money anxiety has been on the rise during the Covid-19 crisis.

At the time of the UK’s lockdown, the Office of National Statistics reported that close to half of Brits felt high levels of anxiety and stress

But what are the symptoms of a money anxiety disorder? And how can you relieve such uncomfortable symptoms?

In this article, we’ll cover a few of the main signs to look out for. We’ll also discuss strategies that you may wish to try for reducing money worries.

blank

WHY IS MONEY ANXIETY MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER?

First, some context.

Covid-19 has been an economic disaster as well as a health crisis.

The Bank of England issued a forecast in May 2020 that the Covid-19 crisis will cause the worst UK recession in 300 years.

Their update in August 2020 predicts the UK economy’s output won’t recover to pre-Covid levels until the end of 2021.

This economic strain on individuals and families has further tested the nation’s mental health.

Anxiety levels have been highest for the approximated 8.6 million Brits whose income has fallen during Covid-19.

Money matters when it comes to mental health. There’s a strong link between our financial wellbeing and how we feel.

And a survey by the Mental Health Foundation found that over a third of UK adults fear they’ll lose their job.

If you feel like money worries are making you ill or stressed, review the money anxiety symptoms (listed below) to see how many sound familiar.

SYMPTOMS OF MONEY ANXIETY: 10 PHYSICAL & SOCIAL WARNING SIGNS

  1. Lying about money

You may or may not have heard of financial infidelity. A person can get into the habit of lying to loved ones about money when they are under stress.

44% of people lie to their partners about money, according to a study by CreditCards.com. This includes withholding information about debt, overspending, credit cards, and bank accounts.

  1. Sleep difficulties

Personal finance is one of the four biggest factors that affect sleep health, as found by this State of America’s Sleep study.

People who rated their sleep as poor are 1.4 times more likely to be living paycheck-to-paycheck and be dealing with money worries than those with high-quality sleep.

  1. Social withdrawal

Withdrawal from friends, family, and other social circles is a common symptom of money anxiety disorders.

Feelings of shame can cause a gradual or sudden withdrawal from social activities.

  1. Mood disorders

Meta-analyses show that the financial anxiety associated with personal debt significantly increases the risk of mental health issues.

This risk includes depression, psychotic disorders, and drug dependency.

  1. Overspending

Overspending is a classic example of a vicious cycle. A shopping spree may serve as stress relief, but positive effects are temporary.

Guilt is likely to set in soon after, along with possible feelings of anxiety or depression.

  1. Fatigue

survey by the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) found that the most common way money anxiety was affecting people at work was tiredness.

  1. Inflammation

Links have been discovered between financial stressors and inflammation.

When the body is under long-term stress, inflammatory markers get raised.

  1. Extreme frugality

As discussed by Experian, being “frugal to a fault” is a potential symptom of a money anxiety disorder.

Not allowing yourself to take rest breaks, or struggling to spend the bare minimum on yourself, could be a warning sign.

HOW TO DEAL WITH FINANCIAL ANXIETY

If you’re thinking, “money worries are making me ill,” there are several strategies that you can try to feel more in control.

We’ll list a few of these strategies below.

  1. NHS guidance

We recommend you review this NHS page on how to cope with money worries.

The NHS promotes include staying active with exercise, limiting alcohol, and keeping to a daily routine.

These can all help you feel more structured during times of financial stress.

  1. Track your finances

Tracking your finances may not be the most entertaining task, but it can allow people to feel more organised.

Useful strategies are to create a budget and to educate yourself about debt.

  1. Seek help from money advice services

Organisations such as the Citizens Advice Bureau can support you with getting out of debt. They can also inform you about benefits that you may be entitled to.

Also, you can use the government-backed Money Advice Service for free, financial advice.

  1. Hypnosis / Hypnotherapy

At City Hypnosis, we offer a range of hypnotherapy services. The technique of hypnosis used in this therapy can help people break free from anxiety loops in the subconscious.

If you’re experiencing money worries, you may find that your mind gets stuck in the “stress response.”

Symptoms such as burnout, panic attacks, and worst-case scenario thoughts are common when the stress response is overactive.

Hypnotherapy supports people to enter a deeply relaxed state and change the thought loops that make money worries worse.

Hypnosis is a calming process, which involves prompts, suggestions, and visualisations to reduce anxiety.

SMOKING HYPNOSIS IN LONDON: HOW MUCH DOES HYPNOTHERAPY COST TO QUIT SMOKING?

Are you looking to find out more about hypnosis for smoking in London?

Today’s article will talk you through:

  • The process of hypnosis for smoking
  • How much hypnotherapy costs to quit smoking vs. Long-term costs of smoking
  • Customer reviews of hypnotherapy to stop smoking

CAN HYPNOTHERAPY STOP YOU SMOKING?

The short answer is “yes”!

But how exactly can hypnotherapy stop you smoking?

Hypnosis for smoking is done with the aid of a hypnotherapist, who will guide your treatment with a range of verbal suggestions and relaxation techniques.

Before the hypnotherapy to stop smoking begins, your hypnotherapist may ask about your goals for therapy and some background information on your smoking history.

Then, as agreed with you, the hypnotherapist will bring you into a deeply relaxed emotional state.

Once in this much calmer state, the brain is more flexible and impressionable.

Mental images and cues are used by the hypnotherapist to shift old thought patterns in the subconscious mind.

This process allows the new, more resilient thoughts to take their place.

You should start to feel a greater sense of control and inner strength.

Attachments to previous addictions will loosen and you’ll be able to form healthier habits in their place.

HOW MUCH DOES HYPNOTHERAPY COST TO QUIT SMOKING (VS. THE COST OF LONG-TERM SMOKING)?

First, let’s start with the cost of long-term smoking. We can then compare this data with how much hypnotherapy costs to quit smoking.

The NHS says that the average smoker saves £128 per month by quitting their habit. This adds up to over £1,500 per year.

We recommend that you use the NHS smoking calculator to work out the specific savings you’ll make by stopping smoking.

According to Change, and individual smoking 20 cigarettes per day totals a weekly cost of £65.80 and a monthly cost of £285.15.

After quitting, here’s what you’ll be able to buy on a weekly basis:

Source: Change

As you can see, potential purchases instead of cigarettes include a smart speaker, an annual online shopping subscription, or a crockery set.

And what about on a monthly basis?

blank

Source: Change

The extra £285.15 could get you a computer tablet, a smart TV, or a digital camera.

Fix My Mind also gives us a practical breakdown of the money saved by quitting a 10-a day or a 20-a day habit.

blank

Source: Fix My Mind

The money saved at the 5, 10, and 20-year markers will be a surprise to some!

But how much does hypnotherapy cost to quit smoking? Is hypnosis an affordable treatment?

Ultimately, only you can decide. But at City Hypnosis, here are our current prices (as of August 2020):

  • £295 per session, OR
  • £275 per session for block booking (4 minimum – 4 sessions needed on average)
  • £99.99 for audio program downloads

Sessions are available in-person and online.

Smoking cessation hypnosis can be successful in a single 2-hour session for some clients. Most clients will need a little more than that, though.

batch of 4 discounted sessions (the average treatment length at City Hypnosis) would cost you £1,100.

So, if you’re a 20-a day smoker, you’ve already saved £656 within 6 months by spending £1,100 on hypnotherapy treatment rather than £1,756 on a 6-month supply of cigarettes.

At the 5-year mark, that’s a potential saving of £16,463!

Note: Please contact us to confirm the prices quoted above remain the same, as they may be updated from time to time.

HYPNOTHERAPY STOP SMOKING REVIEWS

HYPNOTHERAPY FOR OCD: CAN HYPNOSIS HELP WITH OCD?

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) can be challenging enough at the best of times. But for people with OCD or other anxiety disorders, the Covid-19 crisis may have aggravated symptoms.

recent Anxiety UK survey showed that 67% of their members have felt an increase in anxiety since the lockdown restrictions were eased.

This rise is understandable, of course.

Contracting the virus (57%), taking public transport (49.3%), going shopping (45.9%), and returning to education or work (45.8%) are some of the most common concerns.

With this in mind, managing symptoms of OCD and anxiety are particularly vital at the moment.

But what role does OCD hypnotherapy have in all this?

In this week’s article, we’ll discuss:

  • How common OCD is
  • Whether hypnosis can help with OCD
  • What makes hypnotherapy for OCD different from other approaches

blank

HOW COMMON IS OCD?

Together, the unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and repeated behaviours (compulsions) of OCD can be exhausting to manage day-to-day.

The symptoms can impact a person’s life in a variety of areas, from their health to their career and relationships.

Sufferers of OCD may be hesitant to tell people what’s going on. Feelings of embarrassment or shame can often arise.

But the reality is, OCD is a common health condition. In the UK, 1.2% of the population is affected by OCD (12 people in every 1,000).

The causes of OCD aren’t clear, with many factors thought to contribute to the disorder, such as life events, brain differences, and family history.

Two-thirds of the time, the major symptoms of OCD begin before the age of 25. Cases of OCD vary in nature and can present in many ways.

Possible types of “obsessive” thought include:

  • Excessive attention to order and neatness
  • Fear of germs or dirt
  • Fear of harm or loss of control
  • Superstitions
  • Violent or extreme thoughts/images

And potential types of “compulsive” behaviour are:

  • Excessive cleaning/washing
  • Fear-based rituals
  • Repeated checking e.g. locks and appliances
  • Tapping, counting or repeating words

CAN HYPNOSIS HELP WITH OCD?

Hypnosis can help with OCD through the implementation of two key methods.

First, an OCD hypnosis treatment brings the body and mind into a calm “trance” state using relaxation techniques.

This can include progressive muscle tension release, metaphors, and the use of anchors.

Then, with the support of a qualified hypnotherapist, a client is encouraged to imagine the emotions and memories that tend to be anxiety triggers.

When the mind pictures the triggers and memories whilst the body remains in this calm state, anxiety associated with OCD is reduced.

Often, the body carries a high amount of tension throughout the day that people are not fully aware of. Bodily tension increases the likelihood of anxious feelings and sensations.

The customized process of relaxation in hypnotherapy allows an individual to neutralize the feeling of anxiety in a safe, quick, and practical way.

Results for both anxiety-related disorders and depression are encouraging.

Hypnotherapy is equally effective as and cheaper than CBT, a meta-analysis of 18 studies showed.

In addition, hypnotherapy sessions are less time-consuming than CBT.

WHAT MAKES HYPNOTHERAPY FOR OCD DIFFERENT FROM CBT?

What sets hypnotherapy apart from other therapies is that the focus is not on changing obsessive thoughts.

Changing these thoughts demands a lot of mental effort from the person experiencing them. This can be tiring and difficult to maintain long-term.

As well as this, trying to change the thoughts can build further resistance and tension within the body, which increases the likelihood of anxiety.

Instead, hypnotherapy for OCD helps a person reduce their level of reactivity to obsessive thoughts.

By taking this alternative approach, the OCD sufferer can distance themselves from the thoughts and stop feeling guilty or ashamed by their presence.

We sometimes forget that the mind is an amazingly complex, yet impressionable tool.

The mind can be trained to view repetitive thoughts as “mental chatter” without identifying with them.

Does anyone ask to have obsessive thoughts?

No.

A person does not actively create such thoughts. Therefore, the thoughts are not part of the true self.

Whilst we do recommend trying treatments such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), which can be effective, this modality targets the conscious mind.

But CBT and similar cognitive therapies do not concentrate on the subconscious mind.

Did you know that 95% of cognitive activity (emotions, decisions, behaviours) is estimated to take place outside of the conscious mind?

OCD hypnosis treatment works by engaging directly with the subconscious mind. When the body is in a deeply relaxed state, the subconscious mind is more accessible.

With the guidance of your hypnotherapist, you’ll move through a series of self-empowering verbal cues and images to break the intrusive thought patterns.

The subconscious mind is often viewed as a more powerful part of the brain. At its core, this is what makes hypnotherapy for OCD such a unique, anxiety-reducing treatment.

Thank you for reading!

HOW TO STOP GOING RED AND OVERCOME YOUR FEAR OF BLUSHING PHOBIA

“Woah, you’ve gone so red.”

The words that every “blusher” dreads to hear.

You feel the slightest sense of embarrassment and in a matter of seconds, your face is hot and flushed.

As a result, you start to feel more embarrassed and your skin gets even redder.

Feelings of anxiety and isolation are common for people suffering from a blushing phobia, otherwise called erythrophobia.

The vicious cycle sometimes leads people to avoid social situations. Regular blushing can be a stressful experience, but the truth is, you’re not alone

Curious to see what other people who want to find out how to stop going red search on Google?

View the image below:

Source: Ubersuggest (Monthly Google searches in the U.S.)

As you can see, some of the most frequent queries on Google include:

“How to not go red when talking to someone”

“Why does my face turn red when I get nervous”

“How to stop blushing when public speaking”

“Why does my face turn red for no reason”

You’ll be glad to know that breaking the loop of frequent blushing is possible.

What’s more, long-term treatment is typically not required.

In this article, we’ll discuss why people go red with embarrassment and how hypnotherapy helps to treat the issue.

We’ll also share 5 practical tips that you can use to deal with blushing alongside a hypnosis treatment.

WHY DOES MY FACE TURN RED FOR NO REASON?

Although a cause for feeling self-conscious, blushing is one of the most common causes of a flushed face.

Although the natural bodily response of blushing is to blame in most cases, we recommend that you speak with a doctor to rule out other causes of flushed skin, such as rosacea.

If you’re wondering “why does my face turn red for no reason?”, there actually is a reason.

As explained by AsapSCIENCE in a video with over 3 million views, blushing is part of the “fight or flight” response.

Embarrassment activates this response in the sympathetic nervous system.

Adrenaline is released and blood vessels dilate to increase oxygen delivery, causing the face to redden.

A European psychology team discovered that people who have committed an embarrassing act are more likely to be forgiven by others when they blush.

Trustworthiness and likeability were both scored higher for people who blushed than those who didn’t.

DOES HYPNOSIS FOR BLUSHING WORK? STOP BLUSHING HYPNOSIS REVIEWS

blank

Our hypnotherapy for blushing programme at City Hypnosis has enjoyed excellent results for over 15 years now.

An encouraging 9 out of 10 clients who came to us with a blushing problem no longer suffer from the conditioned response.

But how can you stop going red with the use of hypnotherapy? And what does the process involve?

Fear of blushing phobia is treated by working on the repetitive thoughts in your subconscious mind.

Such thoughts can include “I’m going to blush again” or “I’ve got to stop going red so easily, it’s embarrassing” that causes someone to stay locked in the cycle of blushing.

Together with your hypnotherapist, you’ll be able to apply techniques such as visual cues, autosuggestions, and relaxation exercises to alter the “voice” in your subconscious mind.

This will make the subconscious mind replace fear-inducing thoughts with more self-empowering thoughts, that reduce the severity of blushing over time.

In a recent 2019-2020 examination of client feedback, 92.8% of 42 clients who engaged with us for a fear of blushing treatment said that hypnotherapy had helped improve their issue.

Due to this high success rate, we find that GPs are increasingly referring patients to our clinic for specific blushing hypnotherapy sessions.

Here’s a review from one of our past clients:

5 PRACTICAL TIPS TO DEAL WITH BLUSHING

  1. Cool off

“Your face becomes red when blood vessels dilate,” says Dr. Joshua Zeichner, a New York-based director of cosmetic research.

This may seem like obvious advice, but being in a hot environment is one of the most frequent causes of a flushed face.

Open a window, turn on the air conditioning, or splash your face with cold water to reduce your body temperature.

  1. Wear makeup

Whilst this does not solve the root cause, wearing makeup can be a useful short-term solution to reduce the social anxiety that often comes with blushing.

Medical News Today recommends green-tinted makeup to neutralise the facial redness.

  1. Medication for blushing

As advised by the NHS, medication to lessen the anxiety that causes a blushing phobia is another treatment option to consider.

For persistent facial redness, a cream may be prescribed by your doctor if they think this is appropriate.

  1. Deep breathing

Deep breathing offers several benefits, such as rebalancing blood pressure, slowing your heart rate, and stopping stress hormone release.

Calming these bodily processes through breathing can relieve the anxiety that leads to a fear of blushing.

  1. Check your body language

Stressful events are inevitable sometimes, but did you know that maintaining positive body language can help?

scientific study in the Psychological Science journal found that people who were asked to smile during stressful tasks felt better and had lower heart rates than those who didn’t smile.

Next time you find yourself blushing, try to smile rather than be critical of yourself. See if this helps “trick” your mind into thinking that you’re having fun.

You might be surprised at how well this can work!

HOW THE LAW OF ATTRACTION WORKS: UK’S LEADING HYPNOTHERAPIST GIVES HIS OPINION

9th September 2020 by Aaron Surtees, the UK’s most recommended hypnotherapist

Ask people about the Law of Attraction and you’ll get strong opinions on both sides.

One person will say that trying the law “changed my life forever.”

Another will say the mysterious concept is “fake and a load of rubbish!”

How about you? Where do you stand?

You may be feeling gconfused about how the Law of Attraction works and whether it’s legitimate.

As an experienced hypnotherapist, I often get questions about what the Law of Attraction is.

This article marks the start of a series I’ll be writing to shine a light on:

  1. Law of Attraction techniques and tools
  2. How to apply the Law of Attraction for goals such as improving confidence and increasing wealth
  3. Practicing successful hypnosis for the Law of Attraction

blank

Source: YouTube – Testimonial for Law of Attraction Hypnosis

To begin the series, today’s post will discuss the popularity of the Law of Attraction, research on why it works, and who this law is for.

So let’s get started…

WHY IS THE LAW OF ATTRACTION SO POPULAR?

If you had to estimate how many people around the world are searching for information on the Law of Attraction, what would you guess?

There are a staggering 135,000 monthly searches for the term “law of attraction” in the United States alone! In the UK, the monthly search figure is approx. 33,000.

Were you close with that guess?

As shown below in the image of Ubersuggest’s search data, other popular terms are “law of attraction quotes” and “the law of attraction book.”

blank

Source: Ubersuggest

Rising demand is no surprise when NASA scientists like Dr. Travis S. Taylor has written books on the topic, such as The Science Behind The Secret: Decoding The Law of Attraction.

Plenty of best-selling books talk about how the Law of Attraction works, including A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose (by Eckhart Tolle) and The Power of Your Subconscious Mind (by Joseph Murphy).

You may have heard of some of these Law of Attraction books, which reference the importance of positive thinking and provide strategies on how to manifest your desires.

blank

Source: Amazon.com

Respectable names in the self-help industry like Mindvalley and Psychology Today offer varied stances on the integrity of the law, though.

Despite the wildly differing views that you’ll come across, the interest in how the Law of Attraction works hasn’t faded.

Instead, the discussion has increased over time.

The idea that we can change the outcome of our life through thoughts alone is self-empowering.

When we can feel that we can achieve what we set our mind upon, we’re rewarded with a sense of control.

The process goes like this:

“Hey, I can think a) and make b) happen as a result.”

In a sometimes (or rather, often) crazy world, this gives us structure.

But the question is, how does it work?

“TELL ME… HOW DOES THE LAW OF ATTRACTION WORK?”

The Law of Attraction tells us that positive or negative thoughts influence our experiences.

As the Mayo Clinic reports, positive thoughts can improve health and help with managing stress.

What’s more, repetitive thinking is linked to cognitive decline in research by the University College London.

Thoughts are seen as a form of energy in the Law of Attraction, that we can raise to a higher level or drag down to a lower level through our cognitive choices.

Techniques such as affirmations and visualisation are encouraged, to put out to the world what we want to receive.

We can feel encouraged that, when facing a setback, we have the power to reframe the setback by using carefully-crafted responses to reprogram the mind.

Over time, this can build momentum and forward progress.

Here’s some interesting data for you…

Peter Kinderman (Head of the Institute of Psychology, Health and Society) led a negative life event study on more than 30,000 people.

What he and his team discovered was that “traumatic life events are the main reason people suffer from anxiety and depression.”

Of course, part of what happens in life is out of our control.

But crucially, Kinderman went on to say that “the way a person thinks about, and deals with, stressful events is as much an indicator of the level of stress and anxiety they feel.”

You can read more about this study in the Psychology Today article, “How Negative Thoughts Are Ruining Your Life.”

Whilst it’s true that how the Law of Attraction works is not yet fully understood, there’s a reason why the phrase “fake it ‘til you make it” is used so often.

Lucky breaks may happen now and then, but most of the time, we have to set the intention first.

Affirmations and visualisations help us do exactly that.

These mechanisms will allow you to create your best future self and restate your goals every day (or multiple times a day) to stay on track.

Deliberate, positive thinking conjures up pleasant feelings like love and confidence, that assist you to maintain motivation.

This is vital to address self-limiting beliefs and negative emotions such as anger, fear, or sadness that may be holding you back.

Hypnosis for Law of Attraction works by a hypnotherapist imprinting high-energy phrases and cues into the subconscious mind, whilst the individual is in a trance-like state.

When the body is in a deeply relaxed state like this, it’s more impressionable to cognitive and emotional change.

The process is more proactive and purpose-driven than meditation, for example.

In a Law of Attraction hypnosis, negative energy is withdrawn, and old, outdated thought patterns you no longer need are overridden.

One of the most simple explanations of how the Law of Attraction works comes from world-famous spiritual author Eckhart Tolle:

“The quality of your consciousness at this moment is what shapes the future.”

You can find out more about how my team provides hypnosis for Law of Attraction on this page, which includes a range of testimonials from past clients.

WHO IS THE LAW OF ATTRACTION FOR?

In my experience, the Law of Attraction is best for individuals who truly want to improve their quality of life.

Whether the goal is to attract love, success, or otherwise, this isn’t the most important part.

What’s crucial is to be open to the idea that the subconscious mind is powerful and we can use the mind’s capacity for change to good effect.

As for Law of Attraction hypnosis, one of the best places to access this is at our City Hypnosis clinic.

From sports professionals to market traders, clients from a range of attractions have used our Law of Attraction hypnosis sessions to manifest what they want from life.

Instead of trying to figure out how to make the Law of Attraction work by yourself, senior hypnotherapists are at hand to help.

Online and in-person appointments are available, and we have close to 100 client reviews on Google, which is more than any other London hypnotherapy service.

We also offer specific hypnosis for building confidence, which is a common reason for people using the Law of Attraction.
