Self-hypnosis is a safe and effective way to put yourself into a more optimal state of mind – ideal for the challenging and hectic lives many of us are facing. Make sure that you’re in a comfortable place where you won’t be distracted, and follow the 3 following techniques from City Hypnosis.
City Hypnosis is one of London’s leading hypnotherapy practices, founded by Aaron Surtees – one of the UK’s most experienced practitioners. Backed by a team of experts, City Hypnosis have an incredible 92% success rate in treatments.
- Close your eyes and take 2 deep breaths, focusing on the weight of your body on the chair. Follow the relaxation energy from your feet through every muscle of the body, from your toes right up to the top of your head. Focus on your breath throughout this experience. This is a typical opening sequence to start the hypnotic process.
- Imagine yourself at the top of a beautiful white marble staircase with a long, white banister. Now starting walking slowly from the top step to the bottom, counting slowly in your head from 10 to 1. As you take each step, you become heavier and heavier and more deeply relaxed. When you reach the bottom, you’ll have entered into a relaxed stated of hypnotic rest.
- In your mind, go to a special or pleasant place that feels good. Allow yourself to see that place; the colours, the sounds, the smells. As you look around, you sink into a more and more relaxed state. See which objects are around you. Pick one up and notice the weight of it and how it feels. Gently explore the room.
With all of these techniques, when you’re ready to return to full wakefulness simply count to 5 in your mind and say “I am awake.” Let your eyes gently open and take a deep breath.
